Raging With My K-Edge Computer Mount

Computer mounts are all the rage these days, and for good reason. They make tracking your watts/slowness/pounding heartrate—you know, your data—a whole lot easier during your ride.

I’ve been a fan of the K-Edge mounts since their original all-metal offering from 2012. The solid piece of American made CNC aluminum, with adjustable mount slider, screams quality. Plus it’s bombproof.

My only complaint was that the original mount was too snug and shaved the edges off my Garmin Edge 500. But after the initial break-in period everything was fine and I’m still using the same Garmin computer.

Two years is a long time and K-Edge has since updated their mounts to be more friendly to your bike computer. A plastic insert has now replaced the metal mount interface. You can also mount a GoPro camera on the underside of the mount via a removable interface. Talk about killing two birds with one stone.

The mount I have is the K-Edge Aero Mount, which K-Edge developed in conjunction with Team Sky—better known as the masters of marginal gains.

I can’t prove this mount has saved me watts on my rides, but it’s certainly beautifully, with round and smooth edges in a fixed position that place the computer close to the handlebar.

Due to the tight amount of space between the computer and the handlebar, the K-Edge Aero Mount will not fit all computers. The company says it’s made for the Edge 200, 500 and the 510 computers. They recommend their larger XL mount for bigger computers such as the Edge 810 and 1000. I’ve been using mine for the past four months both with and without a GoPro attached, and it has proven to be totally reliable.
