No one wanted the great Italian climber’s life to end of a drug overdose in some flea bag motel. But up until now, that has been the general accepted fate of Marco Pantani, the winner of both the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia in 1998.
Now the Pantani family lawyer has forced the case to be reopened after presenting evidence of foul play; including cocaine water, a fight and ice cream.
I prefer to remember him climbing like an angel with those giant ears.
