Ernesto Colnago founded his namesake Colnago brand in 1952 and for the framebuilder’s 87th birthday on February 9th, the Italian firm is making an one-of-a kind special steed to celebrate because why not.
The Colnago 87, inspired by the golden Mexico bike Ernesto crafted for Pope John Paul II in 1979, follows the now iconic Arabesque frame style. The handmade steel frame with star-shaped tubes is joined by intricate lugs and is plated with 24k gold.
The bike is then kitted with an equally rare 50th anniversary Campagnolo groupset.
Pretty bling eh? Enjoy the photos and Happy Birthday Ernesto!
TL;DR: Colnago is releasing a limited edition, 105 of them to be exact, of their iconic steel Master frameset. No price on the Master Frameset yet, but the classy Trimm Star will retail for £90 while the decidedly modern looking Kamada will be £120. Both shoes will be available in stores and online at size? on December 29th.
